Digital Camera: Don't Leave Home Without It!

When I started traveling umpteen years ago, I did so with an SLR (single-lens reflex) camera and a large bag filled with lenses, a flash, and film. My early trips were seen through a viewfinder and I came home with prints and slides that rarely came out of their sleeves.

I don't remember when I put the Pentax Spotmatic down—probably around the time I traded the camera bag for a golf bag—but once I did, I started seeing things in an entirely new way, creating mental pictures rather than paper ones and looking for experiences rather than compositions.
