Whenever my wife and I travel, we spend part of the trip discussing where we're going next. This has the effect of extending the vacation as we're always in planning mode, thinking about where we are as well as where we'll be.
It makes life one long holiday.
I've been thinking about where I've been the last few years and where I want to go, my personal "bucket lists." Keeping them helps me stay in the vacation spirit year-round. What follows are my favorite places, a very subjective list that I hope will get you to start thinking where to go next.
Thinking about where to go this summer? If you're planning a vacation, big or small, in the next few months, you'd better start now. Particularly if you're working on a summer vacation, you'll need to contend with constantly changing airfares, limited seats, and hot destinations. So you want to make things as easy as possible.
Exactly a year ago, I was in Thailand. It was the end of the rainy season and as I traveled from the mountains in the north to the beaches in the south, one fact stood out: It was hot! Really hot. Maybe hotter than I'd ever been anywhere. And humid. Even my eyeballs were sweating.
Yet I loved it and can't wait to go back. Just at a different time of year.
