Veterans Day 2012 falls on Sunday, November 11. If you have friends or relatives who are veterans or who are currently serving in the military, you may want to let them know about the deals being offered at B&Bs and Inns across North America, as part of the Fourth Annual B&Bs for Vets Program, the largest hospitality effort of its kind.
Everyone deserves a relaxing night away from home, especially vets and their families. To honor these heroes, more than 1000 participating inns and B&Bs across the U.S. and Canada will be donating their guest rooms for free stays for veterans on Monday, November 12; others will be offering military discounts throughout the weekend.
"I have served for over 20 years, and have been privy to many expressions of gratitude by businesses and individuals," says Sergeant First Class David Cogdill, who was temporarily stationed in Fort Stewart Georgia. "Vets who are lucky enough to participate in this program are treated like family, and the experience is one that many could not afford without the program."
The free rooms in cities and towns from coast to coast are offered to vets on a space available basis. Searchable by state and/or province at Better Way to Stay: BBs for Vets, the directory is updated daily with new rooms and offerings. Salute our Heroes special offers for veterans and those serving in the military are also available on BnBFinder.com.
Once you identify a place your vet would like to visit, contact the innkeeper directly to make arrangements. The charitable effort is spearheaded by the Professional Association of Innkeepers International (PAII), the innkeeping industry's largest trade association.
