Cards are wonderful and a dozen roses always say, "I love you."
For those who want to get a bit more creative on Valentine's Day (and what midlifer doesn't?), there are other ways to nibble on or drink up a little romance when Cupid comes calling on February 14.
I asked mixologist Chef Junior Merino a.k.a. The Liquid Chef for a few February 14 day treats that you can create for your loved one.
He offered LifeGoesStrong readers a few classics mixed with one shot of passion and a heavy dose of creativity.
Here are a few great Valentine's Day treats and a creative homemade gift you can make, plus a great drink recipe:
Tequila Chocolate Strawberries
You Need:
Strawberries
72 Percent Chocolate
Condensed Milk
Tequila Anejo
Kahlua
Directions: Melt in a double broiler or chocolate melter, 200 grams of 72 percent chocolate. In a bowl, pour 100 grams of melted chocolate. Add 100 grams of Anejo Tequila, 50 grams of Kahlua and 50 grams of condensed milk. Whisk the ingredients until they reach a smooth consistency. Refrigerate the mixture, stirring occasionally until it thickens in the fridge. With a melon baller hollow out the strawberries. Dip and cover ¾ of the strawberry with the melted chocolate and place them on wax paper and then refrigerate for 15 minutes until the chocolate hardens.
